Moses was raised with out his father all of his L.i.f.e. This song was on one of his overlooked mixtapes "F.a.k.e." Friends Are Known Enemies back in 2012 but he decided to bring it back. He sampled The Temptations "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" unleashing the rage for his dead beat father as if he was face to face with him. He later went into detail saying "If I gotta kid I'll do the opposite of what my father did" because he promises never to make the same mistakes his dad made with him.
